The chosen candidate will be accountable for the following basic functions.
Basic Function:
Comptroller Accountable for the accounting operations of the company, assist in development of a financial and operational strategy, build and maintain metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP standards and an established schedule Work with the rest of the accounting department to research discrepancies within the financial data and make correcting entries accordingly Conduct monthly, quarterly and sometimes daily reconciliations on cash and financial accounts Prepare and file governmental reports (941, W2, GRT, etc) Prepare financial reports for management and work closely with senior managers of the company Prepare and maintain financial statements and governmental reports for oil and gas production.
Make bank transfers and ACH payments Maintain an orderly financial filing system Assist and spearhead other accounting projects as required Assist in financial audits Other tasks as requested Desirable Comptroller Skills:
Associate Degree in Accounting (Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred) Background and experience in oil and gas accounting and reporting Exceptional organization and time management skills Excellent communication, administrative and problem solving skills Experience with bank reconciliation and tracking credit card transactions Ability to meet assigned deadlines Strong knowledge of MS Office and General Ledger entry Ability to create and edit Excel spreadsheets Experience with customer service and client communication 5
years' experience in account and advanced 10-key skills Familiarity with a variety of accounting software programs Advanced mathematical and logical deduction skills Essential Transactions :
Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable Ensure that accounts receivable are collected promptly Process payroll in a timely manner Ensure that periodic bank reconciliations are completed Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis Maintain the chart of accounts Maintain an orderly accounting filing system Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions Working Conditions:
Primarily in an office environment.
Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries, as well as to potential acquirees to conduct due diligence.
Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.
